Released two months after “Avengers: Endgame” ended the McU as fans knew it, “Far From Home” served as a palette cleanser and a taste of what Marvel Studios had in store for the next phase of the story. And moviegoers worldwide were ready for more Marvel, as the film earned $111 million from China, Japan and Hong Kong in late June before opening in the U.S. ahead of the 4th of July holiday and earning a $185 million six-day launch. That included a Tuesday box office record $39.3 million, as well as a $25.7 million July 4 total that ranked second-highest on the
Williams was a distinguished animator, director, producer, author and teacher whose work has garnered three Oscars and three BAFTA Awards. In addition to his groundbreaking work as the animation director of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” Williams also animated the title sequences for the “Pink Panther” franchise and received critical acclaim for his first film “The Little Island” in 1958 and his animated adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” in 1971, for which he won his first Oscar.
“Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” is widely regarded as a turning point in the animation field, earning Williams an Oscar for Best Visual Effects and Special Achievement. The addition of cartoon characters to live action footage was seamless, taking fourteen months of post-production and incorporating more than 100 animated elements into some scenes.
In an interview with The Observer, Martin claimed that HBO’s controversial ending for the series would have no affect on the endings of the last two novels. “No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t change anything at all,” he said. “You can’t please everybody, so you’ve got to please yourself.”
Although Martin refrained from giving his stance on the online vitriol surrounding the series’ finale, Martin did vaguely address some of the fan theories at the heart of the conversation.
Gelfman died Thursday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from heart and respiratory disease, his son Peter Gelfman, a New York-based property master, told The Hollywood Reporter.
After serving as a vice president at United Artists and a film buyer for one of the first videocassette companies, Cartrivision, Gelfman joined ranks with Corman and produced Jonathan Demme's directorial debut, Caged Heat (1974), about women in prison; Cockfighter (1974), helmed by Monte Hellman and ...

Even though Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) didn’t get a movie with her name on it in the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’s been just as central to the franchise as anybody. She was introduced back in “Iron Man 2” and has been instrumental in so many major events. So it’s puzzling that “Avengers: Endgame” didn’t really spend any time memorializing her at the end of the movie, which spends so much time saying goodbye to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Captain America (Chris Evans).
It’s puzzling also just within the context of the movie — Natasha’s sacrifice made everything that came after, including Tony’s own sacrifice, possible.
If Black Widow hadn’t killed herself on
Allman, Number Nine on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists list, also played the 1957 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop – which had been on display at the Allman Brothers’ Big House museum in Macon, Georgia – on the Allman Brothers’ 1969 self-titled debut LP and 1970’s Idlewild South, the Macon Telegraph reports.
“Layla” was actually one of the final recordings that featured Allman playing that guitar: Soon after, the guitarist swapped it for a 1959 Les Paul.
That marks the best foreign opening of Tarantino’s career, coming in ahead of 2012’s “Django Unchained.” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” debuted in a handful of international territories, including Russia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, before this weekend’s larger release. In a win for original content, the movie has now earned $66 million overseas and $180.5 million globally. The studio spent $90 million to produce the film.
“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” had the strongest showing in the United Kingdom with a five-day launch of $8.9 million, followed by France with $6.9 million, Germany with $5.6 million, and Australia with $4.4 million. In Russia, where it bowed two weeks ago, the film has made $13 million. It has yet to launch in Mexico,
The films that make up the “Fast and Furious” franchise have generally not rolled with the standard franchise behavior of tossing in mid- or post-credits scenes that tease future installments. Out of the eight movies prior to “Hobbs & Shaw,” only three have included any kind of bonus scene during or after the credits.
The most notable example related to “Hobbs & Shaw” came when Jason Statham’s character, Deckard Shaw, made his first appearance in the mid-credits scene on “Fast & Furious 6,” when it revealed that he was actually responsible for Han’s death in “Tokyo Drift.” There
The movie — affirming the filmmaker's enduring popularity, as well as the star power of Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt — will end up being the second-biggest movie of Tarantino's career behind Django Unchained at the worldwide box office, not adjusted for inflation. There's also a chance it could overtake Django.
However, most box office analysts predict that Once Upon a Time will ultimately earn $375 million and $400 million globally, surpassing Pulp Fiction ($212 million) and Inglourious Basterds ($316.9 million)....

Season 2 of Netflix’s “Mindhunter” features a bit of a shift in focus. In the first season, Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) was front and center as the show spent nearly as much time on his personal life as it did his experiences in the first couple years in FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit. But season 2 gives that same treatment to both Wendy Carr (Anna Torv) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) and moves away from Holden a little bit.
For Bill, his personal story revolves around an incident with his son, Brian (Zachary Scott Ross), which threatens to tear the Tench family to pieces. Early in the season, the corpse of a toddler is found in a house that is being sold by Bill’s wife Nancy (Stacey Roca), who has started working as a realtor. After a fairly short investigation,
“Good Boys” was positioned by Universal to take advantage of this quieter August period after Spider-Man, Simba and Thanos have taken their share of summer moviegoers’ money. But Universal has also become a studio that has consistently found success with comedy at a time when so many titles in the genre have failed.
While a “Hangover”-level hit remains elusive, “Good Boys” joins films like “Night School,” “Ride Along 2” and the $115 million-grossing “Girls Trip” as Universal mid-budget comedies that have turned a profit in the last three years.

“Good Boys,” which screened at 3,204 North American theaters, is a much-needed win for original comedies, a genre that’s been struggling at the box office as of late. The Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-produced movie is the first R-rated funny film to open in first place in three years (since 2016’s “The Boss”), as well as the biggest opening for an original comedy this year.
“The bottom line is the film is absolutely hysterical,” said Jim Orr, Universal’s president of domestic distribution. “Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg knocked it out of the park. And [Rogen and Goldberg] are a brand and really own this space with a very difficult genre.

It started out as simple as this: I wanted to take a vacation. No sooner had I arrived in Lahaina, Maui — Hawaii’s first capital and former whaling center (see Michener’s Hawaii) — than I wandered
According to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, White and his band mates attended the first three innings of the game and then left to perform their show at the Anthem, a venue that is roughly a mile away from Nationals Park.
When the concert ended, the Raconteurs checked the score and learned that the baseball game was tied and in extra innings.
The pic, produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, marks the first time that an R-rated comedy has placed No. 1 since The Boss in spring 2016. It's also the biggest opening for an original comedy in 2019 thus far and the second-biggest of any comedy this year behind Madea's Family Funeral ($27.1 million).
Heading into the weekend, Good Boys had been expected ...
